St Paul’s Church Hall– Project 200

‘Celebrating 200 Years and building for the next 200 Years’

What is Project 200?

Project 200 aims to turn our vision to rejuvenate and refurbish St Paul’s Church Hall into a reality, in celebration of our bicentenary in 2028. Our goal is to ensure the Hall remains a welcoming, flexible, sustainable, and accessible space at the heart of church and community life—not just for today, but for generations to come. â€‹

Building Plan

Phase One:
We will create a bright new entrance with a reception office and an informal coffee area for meetings. Modern kitchen and toilet facilities will be installed, and all three halls will be redecorated—including new windows, doors, and a new heating system. Work can begin as soon as we raise the funds.

Later Phases:
Future improvements include restructuring the stage and first floor rooms to create new spaces for rental and community use. A lift will be installed for first floor access, and the entrance hall will be extended to connect to the new kitchen, making reception and outdoor events easier. The building’s exterior and outside spaces will also be refreshed, with a canopy added at the front entrance.

Why Now?

St Paul’s Church Hall is a central hub for church and community activities in Winchmore Hill. Refurbishing it will allow us to better serve all ages and groups, providing sustainable, accessible spaces for parishioners and the wider community. Without these works, the hall’s condition will decline, making it unfit for purpose. The ongoing work of St Paul’s Church, and the maintenance of the Church building, is dependent on rental income from the hall.

The Fundraising Campaign

Our fundraising target is £2 million to complete the project over five years. The first phase will cost around £800,000. Over £50,000 has already been gifted in a legacy, and St Paul’s Trust has kindly given £100,000. Now, £450,000 needs to be raised from within the church community, before we can apply for grants or seek wider support.

How You Can Contribute

We ask each household in the church community to consider donating £500—some may be able to give more, others less. Every contribution is meaningful and truly appreciated. If £500 is beyond your means, please give what you can. Even small donations add up, and you might also consider a sponsored activity to help raise funds from friends and family.

If you can donate more than £500, your generosity will accelerate the project and allow work to start sooner. We need around 40 substantial gifts, which may be recognised through naming a hall or room, a memorial plaque, or a personalised inscription. More details will be released as the project progresses. You may also prefer for your gift to remain anonymous.
