Planned Giving
Supporting St Paul's Church Financially
Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work. (2 Corinthians 9. 7-8)
Running and enabling the mission and ministry of St Paul’s Church costs a great deal of money. And costs are increasing.
Our parish has no external subsidy, no central church financing and no government grants. In fact we make a contribution of around £50,000 each year to support the ministry of parishes in the poorest parts of London on top of over £60,000 for our own ministry costs. Adding the other expenditure for running the Church means that we need to raise nearly £190,000 this year just to cover our costs. All our income comes from us: from the generous giving of you, the people of this church, and income from letting out the hall. If we are to maintain our buildings and expand our ministry to be more effective and reach out to more people we need to increase our income. And this is where you come in.
Our church is committed to our ministry and to seeking growth, to the glory of God and led by the Holy Spirit. To make this commitment to growth a reality, each of us needs to take seriously our commitment to the church by starting to give regularly to the church or by reviewing and increasing what we give. If every household on the electoral roll gave £25 per month by Gift Aid then we would cover our central church costs from planned giving alone. Many of us could give more, some will not be able to give this much.
It is easy to give to the church. There are details of how to set up a standing order overleaf. Gift Aid recovered on donations increases our income by 25%, so please make your donations tax-efficient. Many employers also offer ‘Give as you earn’ schemes where they will match employees’ charitable gifts.
Our giving shows our commitment and our commitment to God and his church reflects his love and commitment to us. All financial information, names and amounts are confidential and (in particular) the clergy never know who gives what.
Church life is exciting and our church is growing. Please join in making it happen.
