THIS MONTH'S LETTER FROM THE CLERGY:
The Revd Dr Will Adam and the rest of the family moved into the Vicarage in mid-August, in preparation for Will's institution and induction on 6 September. Will writes:
'We are all very pleased finally to have moved to Winchmore Hill. It seems to have been a long time in coming. Thank you to all those who have been involved in making our arrival as smooth as possible and for the greetings and warm welcomes that we have received.
To tell you a little bit more about ourselves: I am forty years old and for the last eight years I have been Rector of the parish of Girton on the outskirts of Cambridge and also Ecumenical Officer for the Diocese of Ely. This part of my post took me out and about giving encouragement and support to parishes in their work with other Churches and also saw me involved with the planning of church life in areas of new housing in Cambridgeshire (of which there are a number). Before moving to Cambridge I served in the Diocese of Oxford for eight years, first as curate in Beaconsfield and then as vicar of part of Witney (where I hosted David Cameron at his first public appearance on being elected as an MP in 2001). I am involved at a national level in the fields of ecumenism (being part of the dialogue between Anglicans and Methodists in Great Britain) and ecclesiastical law (as Assistant Editor of the Ecclesiastical Law Journal - an international journal of law, religion and human rights).
Lindsay is also a priest, and for the last eight years has been a college chaplain in Cambridge. She is now chaplain of Westcott House, one of the Church of England's theological colleges where at any one time there are up to seventy students training for ordained ministry in the Church of England or other parts of the Anglican Communion. She will continue to work part-time in Cambridge, mainly at the beginning and the end of the week.
Liberty (or Libby for short) is 11 and just going into year 7. She will be going to school in Cambridge and staying there during the week. However, she is looking forward to getting involved with activities in Church at the weekends. Anastasia (or Tansy) is 8 and is looking forward to starting in Year 4 at St Paul's School at the beginning of September.
I am very much looking forward to getting stuck in with ministry in this exciting and growing church and community. I am particularly looking forward to working with Edd, Christine, the Readers, Wardens and all those exercising ministry of any kind within the Church and its organisations and I am very grateful to all of you for your resilience and fortitude during a long interregnum. I hope that together we will have exciting and stimulating times ahead as we seek to be Christ's people in his Church and to let the light of Christ shine out as a beacon on Church Hill, and not to hide that light under a bushel.'
